The 2024 Competition Build: Titan-9

Titan-9 Chassis

Omni-directional Drive System

Custom CNC Machining • Sensor Suite • Java Logic

A high-speed robot designed for maximum agility and autonomous precision. Titan-9 features a 4-motor swerve drive and real-time computer vision for competitive dominance.

Our primary engineering focus this season was the development of the Titan-9 platform. Designed for the high-intensity North American competition circuit, this robot represents our team's leap into advanced autonomous systems. The build features a custom-milled aluminum chassis and a carbon-fiber intake mechanism to reduce weight while maintaining structural integrity. Our programming sub-team implemented a sophisticated PID control loop to ensure rock-solid stability during high-speed maneuvers. We utilized high-fidelity 3D modeling and stress simulation to validate every component before production. The result is a machine that not only meets but exceeds the rigorous demands of regional and national tournaments, showcasing our commitment to technical excellence and engineering

CAD Systems

Precision Virtual Prototyping

SolidWorks • FEA Testing • Rapid Prototyping

Every bolt and wire is modeled in 3D before a single piece of metal is cut. This approach ensures 100% assembly accuracy and optimal performance in the field.

At Raider Robotics, we treat every season like a professional aerospace project. Our design process begins with a comprehensive CAD assembly containing over 2,000 unique parts. By utilizing Finite Element Analysis (FEA), we can identify potential points of failure in our arm designs before they are ever manufactured. This allows us to shave off critical ounces of weight, giving us a competitive edge in speed. Our virtual twins are used to train our drive team in simulation long before the physical robot is completed. This digital-first mindset is what sets us apart in the North American STEM landscape, teaching our students the exact workflows used at top-tier engineering firms. It is the marriage of software

Outreach

STEM Education

Workshops • Mentorship • Community Events

We don't just build robots; we build people. Our outreach programs bring STEM education to localCommunity impact is a core pillar of Raider Robotics. We believe that our technical knowledge is most valuable when shared. Throughout the year, we host free 'Robotics 101' workshops for middle school students across North America, providing hands-on experience with coding and basic mechanics. We also partner with local businesses to demonstrate the real-world applications of the skills we learn. Our team spends hundreds of visuals.

Opal came to me with a clear ask: their skincare line was gentle, effective, and ingredient-focused, but their visual identity felt generic and overlooked. I redesigned everything from the ground up, starting with a new logotype that felt softer and more considered. The photography direction emphasized natural light and minimal styling—no aggressive shadows or clinical backdrops. I designed a label system that worked across multiple product formats

PROCESS

From Concept to Competition Field

Our engineering cycle is a rigorous, five-step journey that ensures technical quality and competitive readiness every year.

STEP 1

Analyze & Plan

We break down the season's game rules, defining our strategic goals and mechanical requirements before any building begins.

STEP 2

CAD & Prototype

We model the entire robot in 3D and build low-fidelity prototypes to test critical intake and scoring mechanisms.

STEP 3

Manufacturing

Using CNC mills and 3D printers, we manufacture every custom component to precise industrial tolerances.

STEP 4

Program & Test

Our software team integrates sensors and writes the autonomous logic, followed by hundreds of hours of driver practice.

STEP 5

Compete & Iterate

We travel to regional events, gather data on performance, and refine the design based on real-world field results.
